We are pleased to announce that our own Katelyn Robbins has agreed to serve as a summer pastoral intern for ten weeks during the coming summer.

Katelyn is the daughter of Kain and Kim Robbins and grew up here at Neffsville Mennonite Church. This is where she was baptized and here is the place she began to discover her gifts for leadership.

Katelyn attended Penn State University Park and received a BA and MA in English, a BA in History, and a minor in Religious Studies. While at Penn State, she was a member of Alliance Christian Fellowship and, over the course of her time with this church, served as head deacon, prayer deacon, secretary, and a Bible study leader. Through these various leadership positions, she realized her passion for ministry.

She recently finished her first year at Boston University School of Theology where she is pursuing an MDiv focused on pastoral ministry.  In her spare time, she loves reading, knitting, baking, and traveling with family.

We do not have a complete list of what Katelyn will do this summer, but we anticipate that her work will include some of the following:

  • Worship Leading
  • Preaching (once or twice during the summer)
  • Teaching a Sunday School Class (Seniors? / Youth?) once/month
  • Visitation
  • Working with Alan in administration roles (leading some Staff Meetings, attending a variety of different team meetings, etc.)
  • Assisting with youth teaching/leadership
  • Other assignments as mutually agreed

Katelyn will start on Tuesday, May 24. She will be one of the delegates from this congregation to attend the MC-USA Special Delegate Assembly in St. Louis, MO on May 27-30.

Why did we invite Katelyn to be a summer intern? Katelyn will benefit since training in a congregational setting is an invaluable part of a student's learning. This provides important hands-on training for her.

Our congregation always benefits from the enthusiasm and gifts of an emerging leader. We will also continue this congregation's long history of being a teaching church.

We look forward to Katelyn being back in our midst and seeing the ways that she is able to use her gifts in the upcoming weeks and months.
