Our mission at Neffsville Mennonite Church is to create a space for children to learn, play, and meet Jesus. We are committed to caring for each child and providing them with a safe space. We hope that each child will meet Jesus through Sunday school lessons, mentorship with teachers and leaders, games and laughter at Wednesday Night Out clubs, and friendships with other children.
Fall, 2021 Needs:
Thank you so much for your interest in serving with the children of Neffsville Mennonite Church! There are many ways for you to connect with them. Contact me if you have any questions. --Ally Weaver firstname.lastname@example.org
I truly believe that the foundation of a child’s walk with Jesus starts with the Bible stories they learn in Sunday School each week. My prayer is that with caring teachers using the curriculum provided they can start to build that foundation.
Sundays: 8:45-9:45 a.m.
Teachers - Sunday School (Pre K - gr 5): Ideally teachers would teach an entire quarter using the curriculum provided to them and also build a relationship with the children throughout that time. 5 teachers needed.
Substitute Teachers - Sunday School: Sometimes it is not possible to commit to teaching an entire quarter and substitutes are needed. In this role, you would be able to step in as needed, sometimes on very short notice. 3 substitutes needed
Sunday School - Helpers: Beside every good teacher is a good helper. Your role is to assist the teacher by helping the children when needed, providing crowd control, and simply loving our children as you spend time with them. 10-15 helpers needed
Sunday School - Nursery Care (Infant - age 2): Provide love and care for our smallest children during Sunday School (2 needed) or worship (2 needed).
Summer Children’s Programs:
On select Wednesday evenings (at 7:00 p.m.) over the summer of 2021, fun programs are planned for children (and their parents!) age 4 through 5th grade.
June 16 we’ll build flower boxes and on
June 30 dive into some messy science experiments. On
July 14 we’ll have Kids Olympics, on
July 28 we’ll complete Mennonite Central Committee School Kits, and on
August 11 we’ll go for a hike in Landis Woods.
Come a little early and enjoy some food from a food truck (below) and plan to attend with your child as often as you can!
During Sunday School and worship, infants through age 4 are cared for by childcare volunteers. A Child Protection Policy (see summary here) and screened volunteers ensure that children are kept safe during Sunday school and worship. We provide various activities for children. Together Time runs for 15 minutes before Sunday school where children of all ages listen to stories, sing, and play games. Sunday school is a time for children and ask questions and learn about God. During the church service we provide children’s kits, children’s bulletins, and a children’s story during the service.
Our kid's favorite time is Wednesday Night Out (WNO) Clubs. Running September through April, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., the sessions provide fun games, biblical teaching, activities, and a snack for the children. This is often their favorite time to invite friends. Kids’ Club (age 4-gr. 2), Girls’ Club, and Boys’ Club (gr. 3 -5). See the Youth Ministry page for Jr. High and Sr. High activities.
NOTE: Due to the coronavirus many of these programs have been temporarily suspended. We look forward to the time we can welcome all our children back to learn together about Jesus! For now a dedicated group of volunteers are teaching our children in a "children's church" setting. The children are dismissed from the service just before the sermon to an outdoor setting for lessons and activities geared for them.
