Kid's Zone

Mission Statement:

Our mission at Neffsville Mennonite Church is to create a space for children to learn, play, and meet Jesus. We are committed to caring for each child and providing them with a safe space. We hope that each child will meet Jesus through Sunday school lessons, mentorship with teachers and leaders, games, laughter, and friendships with other children.

Current Programming:

A few notes about how we are currently functioning as we continue to emerge from the pandemic.

  • Sunday School - Children ages K through 5th grade are invited to the Kid's Zone on the lower level for Sunday School from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. Please stop by the check-in desk at the bottom of the stairs.
  • Worship Service - Children are invited to sit with their parents, then go forward for the Children's Time with Pastor Hunter. Children should return to their parents/guardians after receiving their treat from Pastor Hunter. If your child would enjoy it, feel free to take advantage of the Kids Activity Kits which may be found at the back of the Sanctuary. The Kits may be returned to the basket after the service. Thank you!

Opportunities:

Thank you so much for your interest in serving with the children of Neffsville Mennonite Church! There are many ways for you to connect with them. I truly believe that the foundation of a child’s walk with Jesus starts with the Bible stories they learn in Sunday School each week. My prayer is that with caring teachers using the curriculum provided they can start to build that foundation. Contact me if you have any questions.  --Ally Weaver  ally@neffmc.org

Sundays: 8:45-9:45 a.m.

Teachers - Sunday School (Pre K - gr 5): Ideally teachers would teach an entire quarter using the curriculum provided to them and also build a relationship with the children throughout that time.

Substitute Teachers - Sunday School: Sometimes it is not possible to commit to teaching an entire quarter and substitutes are needed. In this role, you would be able to step in as needed, sometimes on very short notice.

Sunday School - Helpers: Beside every good teacher is a good helper. Your role is to assist the teacher by helping the children when needed, providing crowd control, and simply loving our children as you spend time with them.

Sunday School - Nursery Care (Infant - age 2): Provide love and care for our smallest children during Sunday School (2 needed)  or worship.

Ministries:

During Sunday School and worship, infants through age 4 are cared for by childcare volunteers. A Child Protection Policy (see summary here) and screened volunteers ensure that children are kept safe during Sunday school and worship. We provide various activities for children. Sunday school is a time for children and ask questions and learn about God. During the church service, we provide children’s activity kits and a children’s story during the service.

See the Youth Ministry page for Jr. High and Sr. High activities.
